GDR CHIRAFUN

CHIRAFUN is a French national research group (GDR) that brings together about 27 research teams aiming to develop and study chiral molecular materials designed on the basis of molecular and supramolecular chemistry. It was set up by the CNRS in early 2015.

We use chiral molecules for their structural and chiroptical properties to design a wide variety of innovative molecular materials (chiroptical switches, conductive materials, chiral polymers, liquid crystals, etc.).

The synergy between the properties linked to chirality and those intrinsic to the material are studied.

In particular, the close examination of the chiroptical and spectroscopic properties of simple or elaborate chiral systems aims to establish new knowledge in chemistry, physical chemistry and fundamental physics, and to develop cutting-edge experimental and theoretical analysis techniques.

CHIRAFUN aims to enrich contacts between the participating teams in order to maintain and develop a culture and a common language for experimental chemists, physico-chemists, physicists and theoreticians.
